Improving tapping/clicking max speed

Hello.

I was wondering if there's any good way to improve your tapping/clicking max speed

Thing is, before i overused the double keys a lot, using both even on slow parts, but then found it really hard to do those parts whit triple beats and such on half of everything without messing up, since I just didn't know which key I'd end them with, and being used to do so with z, when it ended with an x, I'd either tap one extra time or one less.

Now I started training with just one key, the x one, since it feels like I can press it quicker than z, but still not quite quick enough often if I try to use it alone as I can see a lot of people do.

Sometimes in really quick songs, even with 2 keys, though I do get the rhythm my fingers just don't really react quick enough to press the keys in time, so I'll often end up mashing my keyboard and hoping for the best.

Is there any way to train that? As I said, I do get the rhythm, but can't press the keys quick enough ;-;

Thanks :P

why do i even keep writing with good grammar

Playing guitar for 7 years is what did it for me

You can try individual finger independence and strength training exercises if you want.

You can get this just from playing osu! (over time), but there are other things you can do to train the flexor and extensor muscles so that you can retract and extend your fingers a bit quicker.

It will only provide a marginal improvement though, since according to research, neuromuscular performance is specific to the task practiced. Basically your brain plays a role in the controlling the "co-variant" forces when using your fingers, i.e. balancing things out... So... practice.

Play osu!
Play more.

I am trying quicker and quicker songs, but often happens that there's a part of the song that's way harder than the others where i just can't tap quick enough, which kinda keeps me on slower songs than what I like.

So you want to improve your single tapping speed?
Both single and double tapping really, some parts I can't even do with 2 fingers o.o

Also my accuracy drops quite hard if I use two fingers, both aiming and timing, but that already happened when I used z as the main key, and went away with time, so not really that afraid about it.

Could try those exercises, no idea what they're about though o.o

And osu kinda sounds funnier xD

Think I'll just try to get used to quick songs over time then, maybe check what those are about.

Right now it's so hard, but wellp, with time i guess.

Thanks anyway :P

Everyone has the same problem at their own speed limit but I guess the only solution is to practice more

masturbate 3x a day for 3-5 years straight. you'll be better than cookiezi in no time. Too bad, this post is 4 years from the future. Too late for you to start.

For those in the future generations, this Osu! life hack works so you won't regret trying it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Cringe.

To be honest you got to increase your finger stamina by exercise, you can use a home rehab kit for that or simple squeezing tennis ball. then you gotta rest your shoulder and stay relax and practice tapping for what suits your play style, like if you are dealing with triplets then use both keys or else use single for anything else, by the time you will be able to do higher ar maps your body would have figured it out that what is has to do, and most importantly enjoy the song.

I'm still here boii

Woah it's been 7 years? Feels like yesterday when I was playing Osu on a bad computer on a tiny movable table with barely any mouse space while sitting in bed because who needs chairs

Some good advice would be nice if the offer is still available, I don't play nearly as much as before but it's still fun to try to climb on the leaderboards every now and then. Also, 7 months doesn't count as necroposting riiight?

Finally, a moment where the OP is still alive after years of inactivity, i will give some advice.
First of all i want to refer to you some guides from experienced players, then i will tell what personally helped me so far significantly. most likely many of the advices will be repeated but i think it can help the advice stick. Stay tuned, I'll be updating the post in a bit
Okay, first of all , read this guide: community/forums/topics/1121473 it talkt about streaming from beginner stage to advanced,
And here are some complementary videos: https://youtu.be/Iglev7c0W3U
https://youtu.be/yXdtbFNgCfY
https://youtu.be/9S8hymqMIVs
This is sort of intended for more advanced players, but i think it's useful nonetheless: https://youtu.be/GSfsLfWTNG4

And now a few tips that really helped my streaming:
1: I spent time to play low bpm finger control/alt maps(lower than 160 bpm, usually between 125-145), they helped me reset bad habits and get rid of fingerlock, also finger control maps in general(they also exist in higher bpms) really help with stamina, as you will keep having to pause between notes instead of just continuously tapping, this will make sure you are tapping properly instead of just mashing the notes.
2: Tapping position. Today i have found out yet again that the best tapping position is when your wrist is up, and your fingers are curled as if they are legs of an animal, walking, but while your arm is rested at the same time. This ensured that my muscles are not obstructed so i don't get unnecessary fingerlock, and allow me to use more of my stamina than i usually would.

A specific tip for you would be that you keep practicing full alternation, instead of worrying about which finger should be the last in a note. Low bpm maps will really help you with that. If you need example maps tell me and I'll send some that i remember

Woah I did not think this was as well documented as it is, I remember struggling to find good info 7 years ago

I've read the guide and watched a few videos, will probably finish watching them later tonight, but some practice maps would be nice yeah. I currently play around 4.5 to 5 stars trying really hard to keep up on faster maps for fun but my accuracy in those is pretty bad when reading them (around 82-88% usually if I don't fail within 10 seconds), so for this kind of thing I should proobably be training with lower difficulty/bpm maps.

On the stream speed testing site I get around 160 bpm with the unstable rate not going too high (though even when going slow I can't get it lower than 80), or 200 with the unstable rate over 200 and 10 notes. On 10 seconds can't stay above 180. I also always get downward bpm spikes that are way too consistent on where they show up, even when actively trying to avoid them, which doesn't seem super good.

Also sure, I'll give full alternating a go, I usually only do it on maps without streams because my fingers get too used to the slow alternating and then I can't pull off the streams, but I'll try to practice that then.

Thanks a lot for all the help!
