What does this mean?

is ubmitted a beatmap and afterwards, i changed some things in the editor, so its asking me to "update to the newest version". i would, but it says id lose local changes. what does that imply? what would i lose?

you will lose your recent change and it will revert back to the version you had it uploaded/updated before

You'll have to use the Upload Beatmap-button to update the online version of the map.
