Hello!

Today (2018-06-17), the second public meeting of the Quality Assurance Team was held in the osu!dev public discord server. For those who were unable or unaware of the meeting, or those who would like a quickfire recap, a summary of the discussion and resulting tasks/outcomes for the team can be found below.

Changes to BN Subdivisions

Working Field: Subdivisions (Mao & Naxess)

  1. Make joining/changing subdivisions more flexible, 1 week cooldown on join/switch/leave
  2. Hybrid sds would likely be too messy and sparsely utilised
  3. “Consider” adding a #hybrid channel for people seeking advice on hybrid sets
  4. De-regulate sd leadership to allow trial BNs and more personal freedom in leadership
  5. Do not incorporate rewards going forwards besides normal recognition for good work

Veto Mediation Review

Working Field: Disqualifications (Mao, Lasse, JBHyperion, Aloda, Feerum, Nardoxyribonucleic, Fycho, Deif, -Mo-, Protastic101, Mir, Kurokami, Raiden, Asherz007, Chaoslitz, Naxess)

  1. Significant negative sentiment regarding the handling of vetoes from both mappers and QATs
  2. Require stats on how veto mediation has improved / not improved maps, and also average response time
  3. Consider removing vetoes if neither side is willing to deal with them on a consistent basis (based on stats results from above)
  4. Spreadsheet tracking veto events needs to be more transparent
  5. Discussion to continue...

Review of Metadata Helpers and beatmap checking in Qualified

Working Field: Metadata (Kurai, Fycho, Doyak, Lanturn)

  1. In agreement that BNs should make more effort to check metadata, many are wholly dependent on the Metadata Helpers
  2. Punish BNs with repeated failures in metadata checks since checking is still a BN duty
  3. Metadata Server/Helpers will not be officialized
  4. Applications for metadata helpers can be announced in Gazette as before

QAT Gazette Interviews

Working Field: Gazette (JBHyperion, Protastic101, Raiden, Asherz007)

  1. Interview interesting people in mapping/modding (not QAT exclusive)
  2. Cycle as and when appropriate if there is someone “interesting”
  3. Advertise in Gazette, post interview in Community Voice forum
  4. Feerum may add stuff once he catches up on discussion

BN Applications

Working Field: Applications (Gabe, Deif)

  1. Current activity is lower than 10% of the total amount of the active (Pending) maps
  2. Old forum modding (v1) will no longer count towards activity due to beatmap migration starting next !tcm round (mid August)

Further discussion may be announced as it develops - if you have points you would like to raise regarding this discussion, feel free to contact any of the mentioned QAT relevant to that particular branch.
