Video doesn't play
Install ffdshow or equivalent directshow codec. Open up the ffdshow video decoder configuration and make sure it is being used to decode the format in question (usually mpeg2, divx, xvid).
Also ensure that ffdshow doesnt have the "only use in applications:" ticked under DirectShow Configuration.
You may need to restart after making changes.

If anyone is up for making a more complete guide on setting up ffdshow then please do! This kind of stuff probably needs more explanation.
