HI! Real1 here, I am back with yet another beatmap! This is my 7th one. Closer, by Nine Inch Nails.


This map comes packed with three difficulties:
Easy, Normal, and Hard.



It's a fun map. I'm sure you will enjoy!

Edit #9: Made the long 1/4 stream in Hard much much shorter. Why? Because I have realised how much it sucks that too many mappers challenge the players by deathstreams. Not in my maps. No Sir.
Edit #10: Bursting my bubble to fix two hitsound issues found by gyt and a new preview point suggested by mtmcl.
Edit #11: HUGE HARD OVERHAUL. Suggestions by Mogsworth!

I like this, very much tbh.

couple of things though that crossed my mind while I was looking/playing it through;

[normal]
01:25:458 - In my humble opinion the notes that start off here are a bit too close, which makes it hard to read/play. Maybe add a little more space between them.

[hard]
02:02:791 (1,2,3,1,2,3,4) - This spacing didn't cause me any trouble, but I can see how it might cause people who are unfamiliar with the song a bit of trouble; the notes start off nice and wide but then grow closer by half the distance.

56:958(Break)-> How about adding some beats on this blank part?
1:30:624(4)-> Spacing nazi. Move left a bit.
2:02:792(1,2,3)-> Spacing is Nice

Hard
33:624(4)-> Whistle.(Ending point only)
56:958(Break)-> Same as Normal.
58:624(1)-> 1/4 beat backward

P.S Nazi modders will mention about the spacing issues <3

00:08:12 (1) - no jumps in Easy
00:10:79 (1) - doesnt flow well from 4

02:02:79 (1) - looks bad partly under fading 1

Thanks. Did most of it. Not all. Also, not too many claps! I want the song to feel heavy while playing... And claps seem a bit too... "happy" for it. However, I added a few claps. ;)

First few seconds were a tad boring.

Easy:
00:06:12 (2) - Perhaps you forgot a whistle here?
00:42:12 (4) - Line up with (3).

Normal:
00:06:79 (1,2,3,4) - Line up with 00:04:79 (2).
00:03:45 (6) - 1 level 3 grid down.
00:36:12 (1,2,3,4,5) - Move so that the (1) is stacked with 00:34:45 (5).

Hard:
00:04:79 (2) - Stack with fading (2).
00:06:12 (2,3,4) - Align with 00:04:12 (1).
00:30:12 (3,4,5) - Align with 00:29:45 (1,2).
01:52:12 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - ..awkward spacing.
02:12:12 (3,4) - Line up with (2).
02:28:79 (5,6,7) - Line up with 02:27:79 (2,3,4).

Thanks Takuma. :)

The first few seconds are just an intro. It's pretty good to get used to the BPM, I think.
In Easy I guess it's a bit boring, but Easy is Easy.
In Hard, I think it's pretty cool.

Offset - For me I was consistently hitting the notes 5ms early through several playthroughs. This isn't a bit deal, I'd get a few more opinions on this and if everyone's hitting a little early, consider tweaking it a slight amount.

(3) 0:31:806 - Move this right 1 square.
(1) 0:32:476 - Move this up 1 square.
(1,2,3,) 2:46:139 - The placement seems off in consideration with how horizontal and vertical the rest of your note placement was.

The only thing I didn't really look closely over was hitsounds, I'd get someone to HS Nazi Normal and Hard. I thought the HSs matched the feel of the song well, and I liked the changes you used near the middle. Though I'm sure someone who was really picky with that could suggest something. I couldn't find anything wrong with the BPM and offset while playing , and the placement all seemed consistent. All the of the notes were spot on with the beat. As far as aesthetics go, the note coloring seemed fine and the background was nice. Unless you have some ideas for a custom skin or storyboarding, which I can't imagine, I think everything looks fine visually.

Normally I have a problem with dark combo colours with a dark background but here it works well, actually, and I'm surprised.

Easy
Beginning has inconsistent combo choices. 5,3,4,4. Make it 4,4,4,4.

00:27:13 (1) - Kinda hard to see the approach circle and the timing not obvious for someone who hasn't played the map/song before.

Normal
00:16:13 (9,1) - Swap new combos?
01:25:47 (1,2,1,2) - Kinda hard to read where the sliders start and end.
01:51:47 (2,3,4) - Uneven?
02:23:47 (3,4,5) - Uneven?
02:45:47 (7,1) - Swap new combos?
