I did... And it didn't work...
But here is the strange part:
I came back and tried again later, and voilá it worked. Idk if it was the drivers or my PC magically fixing itself... So I guess you can lock this.

If it breaks again, maybe you can try renaming d3dx9_31.dll to something else (e.g. d3dx9_31.dll.bak).
My osu! wouldn't work in Direct X anymore either, and for some reason my Osu! kept crashing all the time, until at one point my BFG 8800 GTX video card overheated and now I can't play at all anymore and am stuck on my parents Laptop...I dunno what happened but ever since the new update EVERYTHING was wrong with Osu! Now no more Vid card...........
