Especially if the map is inside another folder (mapset) and you delete the whole folder including your own difficulty ;_;0_o wrote:

I've never had this problem myself, but I see no reason it has to (or should) delete the maps entirely.

This seems very logical to me. I have had a few of my own tragic incidents with current behavior.
