  1. I think "Challenging" is a bit out of place in a spread with "Calm", "Relaxing", and... ... ... "Tears". Maybe find a better, more fitting name?

Calm

General

  1. The sliders like this 00:03:449 (3) - Where the tick is so close to the tail may be a bit confusing to a newer player, especially since their movements are so choppy, it can be very easy to miss it when directly after the tick, the next note is taking a sharp left/right turn depending on where the slider is in the map. I'd suggest restructuring the sliders like these to perhaps make the end part with the tick a bit straighter so it's less confusing. Or at least make the turns less jagged.
  2. 00:13:061 (2) - The hitsound on the tail of this note feels really out of place to me.
  3. 00:48:012 (4,1) - I think you can add a bit more space here, (1) feels really close to 4 for me.
  4. 00:52:381 (1) - The spinner feels like it ends on the wrong spot.

Yuii-'s Relaxing

General

  1. 00:07:236 (1,2) - eh... I think you can put a repeat on (1) and start 00:08:401 (3) - on the previous blue tick, because I don't hear anything on 00:08:401 - . I'd point it out for the previous pattern you have too, but it's a little more acceptable there imo.
  2. 00:15:391 (5) - Ctrl+H and add a NC. The way you have it now kind of disrupts the flow you have coming out of the repeat slider.
  3. If you apply above, move 00:15:974 (6,7) - to the left a bit to ease up the distance.
  4. 00:21:216 (1) - Remove NC.
  5. 00:24:711 (3) - Add NC.
  6. 00:52:381 (1) - Spinner distance in a cup diff needs to be 2(?) ticks away from the last note. It's low BPM but it's done on every other diff and heavily advised.

Challenged

General

  1. 00:03:741 (3) - This feels much better as a single note than as a slider. The sound at the blue tick just doesn't feel like it belongs there. I think adding it as a hitcircle instead with some added distance is better in this scenario.
  2. 00:15:974 (8,1) - This dash required a pretty quick stop in order to catch it at the angle it approaches at, and I don't see this to be fitting (Cause it's almost like a tap dash which a newer player probably can't do). I'd suggest adjusting this by ctrl+g'ing 00:16:556 (1) - and moving it a bit closer to 8.
  3. 00:43:061 (5) - This note is pretty strong, are you sure you don't want to add some distance or even a dash to it?
  4. 00:45:100 (3) - Moving this a bit farther away will make this dash a bit less confusing about "should I dash or can I make it?" :o

Crystal

General

  1. 00:13:643 (5) - I think placing this on top of 3 will give it less of a repetitive feel and introduce some back and forths.
  2. 00:14:226 (6) - Ctrl+g this if you do the above and shorten the distance as needed.
  3. 00:33:449 (6,7,8) - This pattern is difficult in the sense that's a leftwards motion, followed by a right facing hyperdash, by another leftwards motion. I'd suggest moving 00:33:449 (6,7) - to the left and then make the hyperdash into a right facing 00:34:032 (8) - slider.
  4. 00:34:032 (8) - NC this
  5. 00:35:197 (1) - remove this NC
  6. 00:37:527 (2) - add NC (?
  7. 00:45:100 (2) - Curve this a bit better, maybe like an actual curve without a red point alright thanks

  1. I think "Challenging" is a bit out of place in a spread with "Calm", "Relaxing", and... ... ... "Tears". Maybe find a better, more fitting name? - These are based off diff names that used to be used more, I think it's fine.

Calm

General

- Made them slightly less sharp.
  2. 00:13:061 (2) - The hitsound on the tail of this note feels really out of place to me. - Blame Yuii-.
  3. 00:48:012 (4,1) - I think you can add a bit more space here, (1) feels really close to 4 for me. - Done.
  4. 00:52:381 (1) - The spinner feels like it ends on the wrong spot. - Ends at the same place as on the standard mapset, and it sounds fine to me.

Challenged

General

  1. 00:03:741 (3) - This feels much better as a single note than as a slider. The sound at the blue tick just doesn't feel like it belongs there. I think adding it as a hitcircle instead with some added distance is better in this scenario. - I think this slider is a nice way to follow the background guitar sound there.
  2. 00:15:974 (8,1) - This dash required a pretty quick stop in order to catch it at the angle it approaches at, and I don't see this to be fitting (Cause it's almost like a tap dash which a newer player probably can't do). I'd suggest adjusting this by ctrl+g'ing 00:16:556 (1) - and moving it a bit closer to 8. - I think because these notes have a good enough reaction time, it should be fine.
  3. 00:43:061 (5) - This note is pretty strong, are you sure you don't want to add some distance or even a dash to it? - Added a bit more distance.
  4. 00:45:100 (3) - Moving this a bit farther away will make this dash a bit less confusing about "should I dash or can I make it?" :o - Increased distance.

Crystal

General

  1. 00:13:643 (5) - I think placing this on top of 3 will give it less of a repetitive feel and introduce some back and forths. - I'd rather keep this section slightly more simple.
  2. 00:14:226 (6) - Ctrl+g this if you do the above and shorten the distance as needed. - Ayy i get to use pink for once.
  3. 00:33:449 (6,7,8) - This pattern is difficult in the sense that's a leftwards motion, followed by a right facing hyperdash, by another leftwards motion. I'd suggest moving 00:33:449 (6,7) - to the left and then make the hyperdash into a right facing 00:34:032 (8) - slider. - I think this is fine due to 6,7 not being a dash, just a normal movement.
  4. 00:34:032 (8) - NC this - Denied all NC suggestions because I was following an NC pattern of one every 4/1.
  5. 00:35:197 (1) - remove this NC
  6. 00:37:527 (2) - add NC (?
  7. 00:45:100 (2) - Curve this a bit better, maybe like an actual curve without a red point alright thanks - Oh.
Thanks for the mod!

Applied Professor Gila's suggestions too, except for making Tears CS4, I think it works a lot better at CS5.

Yuii-'s Relaxing

  1. 00:07:236 (1,2) - eh... I think you can put a repeat on (1) and start 00:08:401 (3) - on the previous blue tick, because I don't hear anything on 00:08:401 - . I'd point it out for the previous pattern you have too, but it's a little more acceptable there imo. - I really don't know if my headsets aren't working properly but... there's a beat on 00:08:109 - it's a piano hit. In fact, I'd have used 4 circles here instead, but you know.. density and all that.
  2. 00:15:391 (5) - Ctrl+H and add a NC. The way you have it now kind of disrupts the flow you have coming out of the repeat slider. - As for the NCs: My new combos are placed every one stanza, meaning I don't NC according to strong notes as you pointed out. Basically, it's just a way of being really consistent throughout the difficulty. Probably, best way of NC'ing. Did apply the Ctrl+H anyway. It may be a bit too harsh because you kinda catch the following object in time and I wanted to make not so hard, but hey, looks nice so why not!
  3. 00:52:381 (1) - Spinner distance in a cup diff needs to be 2(?) ticks away from the last note. It's low BPM but it's done on every other diff and heavily advised. - Really? That really sucks. I will wait for further advices onto this because it plays absolutely fine to me.
Thank you for the mod, Ascendance! Much appreciate it 8-) .
Also, decided to increase the HP for the sake of the spread.

@yuii- I rechecked the CTB Ranking Criteria and can confirm that the spinner distance is too short. Plus it doesn't hurt to maintain the consistency with the other 3 diffs. Good luck!

Amazing song. Even though it's a cut version (original version is 6 minutes long) this map is really fun and relaxing to play. Just wanted to suggest some tags. You wrote an album name, from where is this song but what about adding a translation/romaji name of the album so the players would find it more easily. The romaji title would be "getouei" or "gateway". The artist is using this keyword basically everywhere in his albums. You can also add tags like "lo-fi" / "lofi", "experimental" & "new wave". But that's up to you. I'm really looking forward to see this mapset ranked.

Hey there again.
Here for my 2nd mod for a m4m.
Wow this could be my littlest mod ever !

General
Never seen a diff below cup before O_o I won't judge it cause I think it's fine but let's see what others say xD.
SV is soooo low. need to increase it or it's difficult small movements for all diffs imo.

Calm
00:27:042 (2) - Could really flip this is you're going for a diff below cup as it's an awkward direction flow for this type of diff. would Ctrl + G and ds again right of (1).

00:30:537 (1,2) - It would be so much easier if these were combined to a reverse slider instead.

Yui-'s Relaxing
00:25:003 - There should be a note here because you had something going on previous ones such as 00:07:236 (1,2) -

00:42:478 - ^

Challenging
00:04:906 (5) - I think this could be moved left more to about x:88

00:14:226 (6) - This could be a bit bigger distance. Try right in the middle of the map at x:256

00:16:556 (1,2,3) - (1) should be mirrored to the previous note. so Ctrl + G this and move to x:88. Also when doing this move (2,3) to x:248 for a much more nice room space for next note.

00:22:090 (3,4) - Could move these right a bit also.

00:30:537 (1,2,3,4) - More distance ? Try moving (4) to x:160

00:38:109 (3,4,5) - (5) is a different distance to (3,4). It seems weird in play. Try make all the same distance.

00:50:342 (2,3,4) - Since it's the very last bit I think you need to increase the spacing here. Specially (3) and (4). Could be a nice glide dash here.

Tears
00:03:158 (2,3,4) - (4) seems like a very low jump and seems out of place to see if it's a dash or not. Try DS or increase space here.

00:47:430 (5,6) - I would Ctrl + G (6) and move so that (5) hypers to it as it fits very nicely here.

00:51:799 (6) - Just due to OCD reasons I think you should consider placing this in exactly the centre at x:256 XD

Wow that was quick yet soothing!
Hope it gets ranked cause it's so nice!
GL guys :D
Yuii-
Good catch. Instead of adding those 2 notes, I'd rather remove the one on 00:07:236 - just for consistency.

Never seen a diff below cup before O_o I won't judge it cause I think it's fine but let's see what others say xD. - Yeah, it's more of an experimental thing from me, than anything else.
SV is soooo low. need to increase it or it's difficult small movements for all diffs imo. - Low SV feels fine to me for the opposite reason, you can stand still for longer in sliders, so you have to tap less.

Calm
00:27:042 (2) - Could really flip this is you're going for a diff below cup as it's an awkward direction flow for this type of diff. would Ctrl + G and ds again right of (1). - Yeah, done.

00:30:537 (1,2) - It would be so much easier if these were combined to a reverse slider instead. - I feel like the backforth movement would make it confusing.

Challenging
00:04:906 (5) - I think this could be moved left more to about x:88 - I'd rather not have a dash here, it doesn't sound that strong to me.

00:14:226 (6) - This could be a bit bigger distance. Try right in the middle of the map at x:256 - Did 232 instead.

00:16:556 (1,2,3) - (1) should be mirrored to the previous note. so Ctrl + G this and move to x:88. Also when doing this move (2,3) to x:248 for a much more nice room space for next note. - Did similar, but with 1 vertical instead of horizontal.

00:22:090 (3,4) - Could move these right a bit also. - Done.

00:30:537 (1,2,3,4) - More distance ? Try moving (4) to x:160 - x:192 instead.

00:38:109 (3,4,5) - (5) is a different distance to (3,4). It seems weird in play. Try make all the same distance. - These are all different distances because they're not the same strength, but I made it more comfortable to play generally.

00:50:342 (2,3,4) - Since it's the very last bit I think you need to increase the spacing here. Specially (3) and (4). Could be a nice glide dash here. - Didn't want a dash, but increased distances slightly.

Tears
00:03:158 (2,3,4) - (4) seems like a very low jump and seems out of place to see if it's a dash or not. Try DS or increase space here. - This isn't meant to be a dash, and that looks quite obvious in my opinion, so I'd rather not increase spacing.

00:47:430 (5,6) - I would Ctrl + G (6) and move so that (5) hypers to it as it fits very nicely here. - Done.

00:51:799 (6) - Just due to OCD reasons I think you should consider placing this in exactly the centre at x:256 XD - I'd rather keep HDash momentum here.

  3. Metadata: No issues
  4. Timing: I got really confused as to why the downbeats weren't lining up but I noticed the metronome is actually a mix of 4/4 + 3/4 (and needs to follow the background drum rather than the foreground piano/synth.) It doesn't strictly change anything in play, but for the record, the correct timing is here:

  1. 00:16:556 (1) - Why not just map this as a repeat slider? It's the only beat you "skip" in this way in the whole map and it already follows a repeat slider path anyway. For consistency, please make this a 1/1 repeat slider

Yuii-'s Cup
  • 00:20:634 (4,5,1,2) - Ctrl+H and respace as this is the same flow as 00:15:974 (6,7,1) before it
  1. 00:33:449 (4,5,6) - If you do the above, do the same here as this will create the opposite pattern (also it's currently the same as 00:38:109 (3,4,5) afterwards)
  2. 00:51:508 (5) - Ctrl+H? Direction change on last object would be consistent with your previous patterns and emphasize the end of the song nicely

Normal Cup
  1. 00:14:226 (6) - 00:31:702 (4) - 00:49:177 (1) - Consider extending these into 3/4 sliders, or even 1/2 sliders as you do in the Tears diff - there's a fainter but noticeable hold note present on each, and it would allow you to create a dash to the following strong beat for a more interesting experience
  2. 00:08:109 (4,5) - (5) is stronger than previous sounds, so I would at least expect a direction change here to emphasize it a bit better. Continuing in the same direction feels odd here

Hard Cup
  1. 00:29:954 (6,1) - Why include a hdash here when there was none at 00:12:478 (2,3) - for identical sounds? You also included one at 00:47:430 (5,6) so maybe it would be better to add a hdash at the first instance instead
  2. 00:43:352 (6) - Ctrl+H and respace for a direction change would be nice here for the pitch change - note that the similar pattern at 00:08:109 (4,5) had a dash!. Also might allow you to give 00:44:226 (7,1) a bit more spacing for emphasis there if you want it
I was super nitpicky on variety/consistency so I can't see many people finding much more with this. Call me back after you've applied.

General Comments:

  1. Song Folder: No issues
  2. Song Setup: No issues
  3. Metadata: No issues
  4. Timing: I got really confused as to why the downbeats weren't lining up but I noticed the metronome is actually a mix of 4/4 + 3/4 (and needs to follow the background drum rather than the foreground piano/synth.) It doesn't strictly change anything in play, but for the record, the correct timing is here: - Thanks.

Yuii-
Alright, so I decided to separate the patterns into groups of two:

  1. 00:03:158 (2,3,4) - and 00:07:818 (2,3,4) - are the same pattern, but their flows are "reversed".
  2. 00:15:974 (6,7,1) - and 00:20:634 (4,5,1) - have a final motion from right to left.
  3. 00:25:294 (4,5,1) - and 00:33:449 (4,5,6) - have a final motion from left to left.
  4. 00:38:109 (3,4,5) - and 00:42:768 (3,4,1) - are the same pattern, but their flows are "reversed".
  5. 00:50:923 (3,4,5) - and this guy got fixed with your mod, because you were right. It plays very good and it also adds that non-linear type of flow which I highly prefer. Problem is, this pattern will remain alone, since the map ends right there. May his soul rest in peace.

This is the best explanation I can give to you, and I hope you are fine with it. I don't remember how I mapped it 4 months ago, but it shouldn't be that hard to understand now that I've analyzed the map thoroughly.
Thank you so much for your mod, Hyperion, much appreciate it! (Diff is already updated.)
