This is my fault. It is fixed in the new version, but unfortunately unavoidable with the current executables you guys have.
If you haven't yet updated from the in-game prompt, don't! Exit the game and run osume manually.
If you have clicked the in-game update prompt, the solution is to force osu! to exit - you can do this via Task Manager. osume should then update as expected.
