As the title says, I found a Stepmania emulator for the Ninendo DS:
Here's the link: http://www41.atwiki.jp/tako2lab/pages/20.html (download is just under the image)
The greatest thing is that it's compatible with .sm files, so you can just add your stepmania folders to DS (/dsdsr/songs/"mix"/"songfolder")!

I've to say that's is really well done and very fun to play with.
If you have a flashcard you shouldn't miss it ;)
To save mamory space, i suggest you to delete any videos or banner (and absolutely .dwi files otherwise the game will crash), as the homebrew doesn't use those.

Some important notes when playing this game on the NDS.

1) The background images need to be resized to 256x192 to be displayed properly.
2) The game only supports mp3 music files, so ogg files will need to be converted to mp3.
3) The game doesn't support the .dwi file extension, only .sm is supported. So all .dwi files will need to be converted into .sm.
4) You can edit the DsDsR.ini file to set your controls for the game, and to change the arrow speed & spacing.

Any gameplay footage? If you actually use the stylus, I'm sure this is not something for the more hardcore-gamers. :P

Oh, and to be correct on the terms, if it's on a DS, I don't think it's an emulator. It's a simulator.
Or is it a direct port? If it is, then I'm impressed.

Do Mines and Rolls work? I'd check about now except my DS isn't around.

Yes, they do. :)

1) The arrow direction can be changed by pressing the select button on the DS during gameplay. At the moment only switching between up and down is supported, there is no split mode, etc.
2) There are no mods during gameplay - tornado, mini, sudden, etc.
3) You can't change the speed of a song.
4) It doesn't mention the difficulty of a simfile in the number of feet. You choose between Easy, Hard, Challenge, etc, on the song selection screen.
5) There are no sorting options.
6) The game doesn't support the touch screen, only the buttons are used for navigating and playing.
7) The game supports arrow speed changes during gameplay like when you select the 1x note speed setting in StepMania, rather than having the arrows moving only at one speed, like with C400.
8) The game supports mines and holds.
9) The game doesn't support themes, changing of note skins, etc.
10) The game is still in development, so new features may be added in the future. The last release of DsDsRevolution was on 19/7/08.

I'll never understand portable SM. It's just not fun.

Well, many people like to play Stepmania with keyboard, so I don't know what's wrong with it... :?
And this homebrew is well made. I saw once a FingerMania but it wasn't so cool and didn't support sm files.

I personally find Stepmania with a keyboard boring.
Part of the fun of DDR(at least in my opinion)is dancing to the beat (which obviously isn't possible with a keyboard)

And I will say that this homebrew is very well made.
I might have to check it out actually. :D

Is playing DDR without a dancemat like playing Ouendan with a mouse?
