Placing offbeat notes???

I've noticed that on numerous beatmaps, people have been able to put notes between beats. So far, my notes keep snapping to the beat itself not allowing me to place offbeat notes properly. My recent submission may, I believe, falter because of my lack of offbeat note placing. (granted, I think it's good regardless, but I digress: NOOB) Geez, I don't even know if "offbeat placing" exists. o_O

Is there a way to put notes between beats or am I just seeing things?

Hold alt (I'm pretty sure, may be control) and scroll your mouse wheel. This changes the beat snap divisor which lets you place 4th notes and 8th notes. Currently (and by default, I believe) your divisor is set to 1/2. This means you can only place hit circles on full beats and half beats.

Thank you. Hopefully this will improve my existing and upcoming maps.

Edit: correction... It WILL improve my existing and upcoming maps. :)
