The song was first introduced in 1979... Something that your dad may be familiar with haha.
And this kinda genre was quite popular in at least 80s and 90s in China, don't know if it was already popular in 70s, but you're not likely to hear a lot of 'em in 21st century. Basically that's why people may feel something special to this song.
